Pet Insurance

Why Pet Insurance?

Cat

Let's face it, insurance of any kind isn't the most interesting topic to have a web site about. Even essential kinds of insurance like home or car policies aren't really subjects to set the pulse racing, so why write about pet insurance, which even most pet owners don't pay much attention to?

Pets

Well, the answer is simple really. As a lifelong owner of cats I've never really thought about insuring any of them, and got along just paying any vets bills etc whenever they came up. Recently, however, I've had to look into the subject a little deeper after the small matter of a £600 ($1100) bill for an injury to one of my cats' legs. A Hard Choice for a Pet Owner?

Now, I'm not rich, and so I was presented with a choice: somehow find the money to pay the bill, or have the old girl put to sleep. As any pet owner will tell you, that isn't a real choice. I had to find the money.

If I'd had a pet insurance policy in place, things would have been so much easier. Although it wouldn't help with the immediate problem, I decided to look around and get some information about what animal health cover is, what it costs, how it can help, and whether it's worth it.

Home Contents Insurance

When it comes to household insurance, there are two kinds of policy.

* Buildings insurance covers the structure of the home itself, as well as the fixtures and fittings
* Contents insurance covers the contents you would take if you moved.
